Featuring a direct-conversion transceiver RF front-end, the PRISM 3 chipset has been unleashed for IEEE 802.11b-compliant WLAN architectures. The chipset includes four component ICs; the ISL2684 direct-conversion CMOS transceiver, ISL3871 baseband processor/medium access control IC, the ISL2984 power amplifier, and the ISL3084 5-GHz VCO. The direct-sequence, spread spectrum (DSSS) solutionoperates in the 2.4-GHz band and delivers data rates up to 11 Mbps.
